To provide outstanding volunteer service and financial support to Anne Arundel Health Care System.
To be a recognized model of volunteer excellence.
Founded in 1944 as a way for community members to give back to the hospital, the AAMC Auxiliary has gone from being the "Pink Ladies" to the "Blue Crew" and is an integral part of the organization's mission of providing patient-centered high quality healthcare services to the community.
Auxiliary members total more than 750 volunteers who serve in more than 30 different services on the main campus and in the many satellite centers spread around the community. Volunteers at AAMC are asked to give one shift per week at a regular day and time. Accomodation is made for vacation or other leave. Shifts are typically 9am to 12:30pm or 12:30 to 4pm. There are opportunities for evening and weekend volunteer work. Volunteer assignments are based on the volunteer's interest, schedule, and the hospital's needs.
Prospective volunteers are required to pre-register and attend a one-hour orientation. All volunteers undergo a criminal check and must complete a service orientation and safety training. They are also required to sign a confidentiality form annually and attend an annual service meeting.
